Trainee Solicitors

We take both law and non-law graduates as trainee solicitors. You will spend up to 18 months in the department to which you have been recruited as a trainee solicitor. The balance of your training will be with another department(s), to be agreed with you and subject to the training meeting the Solicitors Regulation Authority requirements for your training contract.

The qualities we look for in trainees are academic excellence, sound judgment and the ability to get on well with both clients and colleagues. At an early stage in your training you will have client contact and be expected to accept responsibility for your own work, although this will be under qualified supervision.

Training Contracts for 2010 - Application Update

The closing date for applications has passed. We would like to thank the 231 applicants who have shown an interest in the firm by sending in their application for a training contract to commence in 2010. We have completed recruitment for a contract in property work and the successful candidate will be starting work in March 2010. We are still considering offering a contract in family law, but will not make a final decision until the end of March whether to proceed with interviews or not.

Future Training Contracts and How to Apply

Applications for contracts commencing in September 2011 should be submitted between 1st May 2010 and the closing date of 31st August 2010. Application is by letter and CV (or e-mail) addressed to the Training Principal, Philippa Rudd – pgrudd@cozens-hardy.com.
