Emma Raspin


Emma is a solicitor in our commercial property team.

Educated in Norfolk, Emma trained and qualified in construction law in the East of England. She moved to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and practised there for seven years specialising in contentious and non-contentious construction law, particularly international arbitration, before returning to join Cozens-Hardy's commercial property team.

Emma is experienced with both bespoke and a range of standard form (JCT, NEC, PPC, FIDIC) contracts and professional team appointments and associated security documents.  Emma has conducted arbitrations under a variety of different institutional rules and also provided dispute avoidance and mitigation advice.

Key Achievements
  • Acting for a specialist subcontractor in relation to claims worth approximately AED350m in arbitration under Dubai International Arbitration Centre Rules, under United Arab Emirates law, in relation to an airport expansion project

  • Advising the same party in relation to sub-sub contractor claims on the same project worth approx. AED30m

  • Advising an M&E subcontractor in an arbitration under the Rules of the International Chamber of Commerce Rules, with the seat in Dubai, UAE, under English law, in relation to a project in a different jurisdiction regarding a claim worth US$4.5m

  • Defending a UAE government body in a single arbitrator UNCITRAL arbitration under UAE law regarding a marine works contract

  • Assisting with a PPC International contract in relation to a teaching hospital project worth AED2bn

  • Conducting due diligence in relation to the purchase of a Qatari construction company for a consortium of investors
