Living Wills

An increasingly prominent issue in today's society, is people's desire to have a say in what their treatment should be in the event that an illness or accident leaves them without the capacity to make decisions about life saving treatment.

Living Wills (or ‘Advance Directives’ as they are officially termed) are written, legal instructions regarding your preference for medical care if you are unable to make decisions for yourself. A Living Will guides choices for doctors and caregivers if you’re terminally ill, seriously injured, in a coma, in the late stages of dementia or near the end of life.

By planning ahead you can be assured of the medical care you desire while relieving caregivers of the burden of decision making, at a time of crisis or grief.

Aside from making a Living Will, it is also possible to include these wishes by executing a Lasting Power of Attorney.
